Interpretarea masivă a Neoromânesc-ului, specifică lucrărilor de început ale lui Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU, se face simțită și în reședința proiectată pentru Iancu IOANID. Volumele secundare care alcătuiesc fațadele sunt compuse în jurul axelor verticale de simetrie, în timp ce fațadele în sine sunt asimetrice. Bovindoul de pe fațada de la stradă este elementul principal al imobilului, din punctul de vedere al percepției trecătorului. Bovindoul se desfășoară pe trei travei și sprijină prin intermediul unor coloane masive pe consolele balconului de la parter. Diferențele de adâncime de fațadă oferă acestuia un joc de umbre puternic, vibrant, compus cu îndemânare.

Logia de la etaj, care era vizibilă dinspre stradă, a fost recent închisă cu stângăcie și prost gust, afectând neplăcut o vilă cu o sobră eleganță care reușise să rămână intactă un secol înaintea acestei intervenții neavenite. Cu mici eforturi s-ar putea reveni la fațada inițială, dând astfel dovadă de respect pentru un edificiu care îl merită cu prisosință.

Vila a fost construită de antrepriza HARTEL, iar costurile construcției s-au ridicat la circa 100.000 de lei.

The massive interpretation of the Neoromanian style, typical for Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU’s early work, can be observed within the residence designed for Iancu IOANID. The secondary volumes that make up the façades are composed around vertical symmetry axis, while the façades themselves are asymmetrical. The bow window on the street façade is the main element of the façade from the point of view of the passerby. The bow window spans over three façade bays and unloads its’ weight through massive columns onto the ground floor balcony parapets. The different depths of the façade generate a powerful, vibrant, skillful play on shadows.

The upper floor loggia, which used to be visible from the street, has been recently clumsily enclosed, having a negative effect on a sober villa that managed to stay intact for a century before these valueless interventions. With a small amount of effort, one could still restore the initial façade, giving proof of respect for a building that deserves so much of it.

The villa was built by contractor HARTEL and the cost of the build came up to 100.000lei.
