50. Vila Eliza Toma Țaciu

Eliza Toma Țaciu Villa
1923-24 Strada Tudor Arghezi 19

A villa that is faithful to the model developed by Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU for Neoromanian architecture, here we can find all the elements studied by the architect: the heavy bow window, the floral motif frieze, modeled around the upper floor window frames and wooden canopies.
Elements that are seldom met throughout the architects’ vocabulary, but are just as valuable, are the second floor loggia and the belvedere-balcony on the right side of the main façade. Unfortunately the belvedere-balcony is now enclosed with window frames, but, with a minimum amount of effort, one could regain the elegance of the original façades.
Buildings on the same street, signed by Gheorghe SIMOTTA (1891-1979) and Jean MONDA (1900-1987), complete a varied and valuable architecture repertory on present day Strada Tudor Arghezi, former Strada Dionisie.
