Imobilul de colț ridicat pentru avocatul Dim. NEAGU la intersecția actualelor străzi Batiște și Tudor Arghezi (fostă Dionisie) marchează în creația arhitectului Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU cristalizarea unui Neoromânesc propriu, cu influențe clasicizante. În fațadele elegante desenate de-a lungul celor două străzi coexistă echilibrat atât arce în plincintru, cât și arce turtite și trilobate, o friză cu motive florale și o cornișă cu motive geometrice, un tirant metalic și un parapet și o copertină de lemn. Toate aceste elemente sunt abil compuse, astfel încât fațada apare mai curând elegantă decât încărcată.

Cel mai important element este probabil balconul-bovindou de colț, marcat ca un foișor în acoperiș, motiv ce apare de aici încolo deseori în limbajul arhitectural al lui Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU. De asemenea remarcabile sunt și consolele balconului, element pe care arhitectul îl va studia, relua și reinterpreta cu mare atenție pe tot parcursul creației sale.

The corner building erected for attorney Dim. NEAGU at the corner of the present day streets Batiște and Tudor Arghezi (former Dionisie) marks the crystallization of a personal version of the Neoromanian style with classical influences within SMĂRĂNDESCU’s creation. Within the elegantly drawn façades that span along the two streets coexist in a balanced manner round, basket handle and trefoil arches, a floral motif frieze and a geometrical motif cornice, a metal thrust and a wooden parapet and canopy. All these elements are skillfully composed in such a way that the façade appears to be much rather elegant than packed with details.

The most important element probably is the the corner balcony-bow-window, marked by a separate volume within the roof, a motif that will often show up throughout Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU’s architectural language. Also remarkable are the supports of the balcony, an element that the architect will carefully study, reuse and reinterpret throughout his creation.
