Construit pentru a găzdui Liceul de fete „Regina Maria”, actualul sediu al Facultății de Farmacie este o lucrare de tranziție între stilul național de arhitectură și un stil modern, funcțional, contemporan. Ferestrele ample, împreună cu friza stilizată și consolele și ancadramentele geometrice transformă elementele preluate din Neoromânescul propriu lui Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU în elemente de inspirație Secession, aducându-le mai aproape de repertoriul Art Deco contemporan construcției acestui liceu.

Volumul de colț realizează racordul dintre cele două aripi ale clădirii, adăpostind și intrarea principală. Ancadramentul intrării este realizat prin modelarea soclului astfel încât profilatura acestuia să se transforme în ancadrament.

Clădirea a fost executată în trei etape (1924, 1927 și 1934) de antrepriza inginer Tiberiu EREMIE, iar costurile aproximative ale lucrărilor au fost de 40.000.000 de lei. Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU a realizat proiectarea și urmărirea de șantier fără onorariu.

Built to house Liceul de fete „Regina Maria”, the present day pharmacy school building is a transition work between the national style of architecture and a modern, functional, contemporary style. The ample windows together with the stylized frieze and the geometrical supports and window frames turn elements that come from Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU’s own Neoromanian style into elements of Secession inspiration, bringing them closer to an Art Deco repertory, contemporary to the construction of this high school.

The corner volume creates the connection between the two wings of the building, while housing the main entrance. The entrance frame is realized by modeling the base so that its’ profiles turn into the frame.

The building was executed in three stages (1924, 1927 and 1934) by contracting engineer Tiberiu EREMIE, and the approximate cost of the build came up to 40.000.000lei. Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU designed and offered technical assistance without charge for this project.
