1926-30 Strada Brezoianu 23-25
Jurnalistul Stelian POPESCU, căruia Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU îi construise reședința în 1910, ajuns director al Ziarului Universul, îi solicită serviciile arhitectului pentru proiectarea unui nou sediu pe Strada Brezoianu, lângă sediul existent. Deși se pot regăsi elemente încă influențate de Neoromânesc, plastica generală a fațadei este tributară imaginii de zgârie-nori. Fațada este dominată de turnul din axul Străzii Constantin Mille, turn compus din zece niveluri, dintre care două în volumul acoperișului. Elansarea turnului este accentuată de așezarea în axul străzii Mille și de ancadramentul de șase niveluri al ferestrelor etajelor 1-6. Construcția a fost realizată antrepriza inginer N. BRĂTESCU.
Editura Universul tipărea în 1942 monografia arhitectului Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU, conținând planșe, fotografii și date importante din portofoliul de arhitectură, urbanism și mobilier.
Journalist Stelian POPESCU, whose home Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU had designed in 1910, having had become the manager of Ziarul Universul, commissions the architect the design of a new headquarter on Strada Brezoianu, next to the existing one. Although one can still spot elements influenced by the Neoromanian style, the general esthetics of the façade is influenced by the sky-scraper look. The façade is dominated by the tower set up in the axis of Strada Constantin Mille, tower composed out of ten stories, two of which set up within the volume of the roof. The upward direction of the tower is accentuated by the axis of the street and by the six-level-high window frame for the windows of the 1st through 6th floors. The building was contracted by engineer N. BRĂTESCU.
Editura Universul would print in 1942 Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU’s portfolio, containing drawings, photographs and important data from the architecture, urban planning and furniture design repertory.
