1922 Strada A.D. Xenopol 19
La șapte ani după ce proiectează imobilul de la adresa Strada A.D. Xenopol 15, lui Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU i se ivește ocazia să proiecteze imobilul vecin, aflat la numărul 19. Acesta reia volumele bovindourilor, mărindu-le la două niveluri, dar micșorând înălțimea consolelor.
Aici liniile drepte sunt mult mai prezente, singurele arce fiind prezente la parter, sub forma ferestrelor cu arc în mâner de coș. Această formă de arc, ușor turtit, sugerează trecătorului senzația de greutate, de apartenență la sol, amplificând parcă și mai mult efortul clădirii de a se ridica.
Volumul masiv este închis de un acoperiș abrupt, care găzduiește mansarda.
Seven years after having had designed the building at Strada A.D. Xenopol 15, the opportunity arises for Paul SMĂRĂNDESCU to design the neighboring building at number 19 as well. He reuses the bow window volumes, making them larger by two levels, but reducing the size of the supports.
Here, the straight lines are much more present, as only the ground floor has basket handle arched windows. This slightly flattened arch suggests weight and the gravitational pull, amplifying the sensation of the building trying to hold itself up.
The massive volume is enclosed by a high pitched roof, housing the mansard.
